AIUインターン日記～Daily of internship students from Akita International University～「カリーナ、立派な監督として働きました！ Karina tried herself as a director!」

あきた芸術村の素晴らしさを全世界に伝えたいので、あきた芸術村のプロモーション動画の流れについて考えました。プロモーション動画の長さは5分ぐらいで、内容は、３つの部分に分けられています。一つ目の部分は、秋田県の観光紹介で、二つ目の部分はミュージカル「空！空！！空！！！」の紹介です。最後には、あきた芸術村の温泉ゆぽぽ、田沢湖ビール、ホテルと地ビールの紹介です。動画の音声は日本語ですが、海外の皆さんのために後で英語の字幕を付けます。

Last week I was working on the script for the Akita Art Village promotion video. The video’s length is going to be about 5 minutes, the content is divided into three parts. The first part of the video is going to show the famous sights of Akita Prefecture, such as Tazawa Lake, Kakunodate Dakigaeri Gorge and Nyuto hot springs. The second part is going to be an introduction of the ‘Sky! Sky!! Sky!!!’ musical. Lastly, the promotion video is going to introduce the attractions of Akita Art Village, such as the craft beer restaurant, the hotel and the hot springs.

以前、動画の絵コンテを書いたことがなく、面白い経験でした。絵コンテを作成するなら、それぞれのシーンの流さを決めることが難しかったです。絵コンテは、シーンのイメージ図と説明という形で作成しました。
動画の最初は、あきた芸術村周辺エリアの観光紹介です。やはり、あきた芸術村は田沢湖、角館、抱返り渓谷、乳頭温泉に近く位置しているので、動画で秋田の魅力を紹介したかったです。秋田の観光地は、季節に関係なく、いつでも鑑賞できます。紅葉の季節も、雪の季節も、桜の季節も、自然はいつでも心を癒してくれます。

I have never written a script for a video before and so it was quite a challenging and interesting experience. I wrote the script in a very simple form, including the pictures of a shot and a short explanation of the scene. As Akita Art Village is located right next to Akita’s natural attractions, I thought the natural sights of Akita should be included in the video. I believe that the nature in Akita is beautiful regardless of the time of year, whether it is fall, winter, spring or summer. Each season in Akita is beautiful in its own way.

海外と日本の皆さんは、あきた芸術村訪れたら、秋田の有名な観光地がすぐそばにあり、それらを楽しむことができます。

次のシーンは、ミュージカル「空！空！！空！！！」の紹介です。動画の最初の１分間は秋田県の観光紹介になるので、動画のテーマは秋田県に繋げたかったです。動画の最初には、秋田の魅力を届け、秋田を代表するミュージカルを紹介します。「空！空！！空！！！」は秋田出身の草分け的な存在である女性パイロットについて伝えているので、プロモーション動画のためにこの作品を選びました。
また、「空！空！！空！！！」主人公の及位ヤエさんは、心配を恐れずに、自分の夢を向かっているので、皆さんにこのストーリーを届けたいです。

Secondly, the video introduces the ‘Sky! Sky!! Sky!!!’ musical. As the first part of the video represents the attractions of Akita Prefecture, I thought the narrative should be followed by a story from Akita Prefecture. ‘Sky! Sky!! Sky!!!’ is a musical based on a story of Yae Nozoki, a female pilot pioneer in Japan born in Akita. As this story represents Akita, ‘Sky! Sky!! Sky!!!’ was chosen for the promotion video for Akita Art Village.
Moreover, “Sky! Sky!! Sky!!!” is a musical about overcoming difficulties and achieving one’s dream. I thought that would be a valuable message to include in the video.

最後には、温泉ゆぽぽ、田沢湖ビール、レストラン含みあきた芸術村のサービスの紹介です。
あきた芸術村には、田沢湖ビール工場が位置し、受賞した新鮮なビールを味わうことができます。動画には、田沢湖ビールレストランを紹介し、現地のビールの良さをアピールしたいです。そして、あきた芸術村にお越しになった皆さんは、美味しいビールを飲むことができ、温泉に入ることができ、秋田の素敵な料理を食べることができ、上品な休みになると考えます。

Lastly, the video introduces the attractions of Akita Art Village, including the Tazawako beer factory, a Japanese restaurant, Yupopo hot spring and hotel. Tazawako beer factory located at Akita Art Village offers visitors to taste the award winning freshly brewed beer. Afterwards, the visitors of Akita Art village are able to experience the local cuisine and the hot springs. Not only are visitors able to connect with Japanese culture in Akita Art Village, but also visiting hot springs has many benefits for health.

動画の絵コンテの作成ができ、カメラマンに動画を撮影するためにあきた芸術村に来てもらいました。私は監督さんの役割をやっていたので、撮影の前に緊張に溢れていました。しかし、カメラマンさんたちとのコミュニケーションを取ることができたと思います。動画の編集ができ、あきた芸術村のプロモーション動画完成するのが待ち遠しいです。

After finishing the script, I directed filming the video. I was a bit nervous before the cameramen arrived, however, I was able to get along with the cameramen. I am really looking forward to seeing the final video and I would like as many people as possible to see the video.

あきた芸術村に到着し、最初は豊かな自然でびっくりしました。あきた芸術村は、山に囲まれてい、雨でも、曇りでも、晴れてる天気でも、いつでも綺麗です。本当に感動しました。
そして、わらび座をわかるようになり、わらび座の素晴らしさで感動しました。わらび座は、ほぼ７０年間営業し、芸術で秋田に人々を惹きつけています。今年は、わらび座では、大変なことが多かったけど、わらび座は新しい条件に適応し続けています。困難な状況でも、わらび座のスタッフが一緒に明るく頑張っています。わらび座は、職員の人数が少なく、家族のような温かい雰囲気です。
あきた芸術村に来て、よかったと思いました。プロモーション動画には、あきた芸術村の温かい雰囲気を伝えたかったです。

When I had only arrived in Akita Art Village, I was astonished by nature. Akita Art Village is located between the mountains and it is very beautiful here even if it is raining.
When I learnt more about Akita Art Village, I felt I am very lucky that I had a chance to come here. Warabiza has been holding performances here in Akita Art Village for almost 70 years and I find it very impressive that Warabiza attracts people to Akita by art. Warabiza has been dealing with many difficulties this year, yet, Warabia is continuing adapting to the new circumstances. Warabiza is a small company and it feels like all the employees have warm relations with each other.
I was impressed with Akita Art Village and all the good experiences that this place offers. Therefore, I hope the video will be able to transmit the friendly atmosphere of Akita Art Village.

わらび座は新たな取り組みとして、9月から12月まで、国際教養大学（AIU）の学生2名のインターン生を受け入れています。これは、国際教養大学がコロナウイルス感染拡大防止のため2020年4月から1年間キャンパスや寮が閉鎖されオンライン授業を継続せざるを得ない中、学生の皆様の住居の確保や、社会との新たな出会いの場づくりとして実施されるものです。このブログでは、4か月という限られた期間ですが、インターン生から見た、わらび座・秋田の姿を、日々の仕事を通じて綴っていきたいと思います。

From September to December, Warabiza accepts two internship students from Akita International University. From April 2020, Akita International University closed the campus, and they provide all online courses in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Thus, we think we can help the students by offering accommodations and providing new connections for students and the local community in Akita. Although the period is limited, we will tell you the feelings and the perspectives of the two students for Warabiza and Akita.
